Two months later, in Out to Sea, Diane is still loafing at BoJack's house, and he is surprised by this when he returns home from New Mexico. He recalls her not loving Starbucks, but loving the independent coffee place, although Starbucks is more convenient, showing Diane he does listen. Diane sits in the airport as she waits to leave for Cordovia. Diane explains, "I hated her, and I will never forgive her, but she needed me and she was my best friend and I loved her." It is unknown if he was like this to his sons, but it seems unlikely.

Her parents didn’t name her until she was four years old, and she was apparently named after the Cheers character of the same name. She tells them that she brought them together because with Diane's feminist brain and BoJack's male face they can actually say things that people will listen to. Diane finds BoJack near the red carpet. He agrees, and she asks for no more surprise parties. Mr. Peanutbutter in return gets angry for trying to do something nice for her and claims he does big gestures because he's scared she'll get bored of him and leave like his previous wives, The jacket she wears for the second half of. In Burbank, Diane waits in a parking garage. They go into their living room and he says he waits all day for her to come home. While she anxiously waits for it to kick in, Alexi's friends bring up how Alexi texted a "cool sexy" girl named Diane and told her to come to the party. At one point, BoJack and Diane consider tying the bed sheets together to escape out the window. He attends the wedding without incident and reconciles with Diane about the awkwardness between them.

He closes the door and asks her why she's being so nice to him after everything he had done.

That night after leaving the restaurant, the two are confronted by a mugger, but Courtney pulls out a revolver to drive him away. So ironically, despite being the most common name in Vietnam, it has no uniform pronunciation. As Diane angrily cleans up, Mr. Peanutbutter asks if she wants to talk about it. To keep things smooth, Princess Carolyn calls Diane to make a blog about Courtney's movie over dinner.

Diane is furious at Mr. Peanutbutter for not listening to her about fracking, which resulted in their current situation.
